With events including, Virtual and In-Person Events. We have raised over $17,000 in donations to be used for the betterment of our Muslim Youth. We regularly host Food Drives, Blood Drives, Social & Service events yearly.
Our Beginning
The Ahlulbayt Student Association started off as a idea from a couple of high school and college students back in 2013. The idea originated from the need of having a muslim youth community to improve our youth in their faith and community. Initially the focus lay in providing youth with fun activities to bond, which would lead them to influence one another towards the right path of Islam. This idea was then put into fruition by Muhammad Shao, Zaynab Amin, Muhammad Hashmi, Sehar Hashmi, Sanober Hashmi and Eman Albash.
Achivements
Operating for over 4 years, many achivements and accomplishments have been made. Including the following below; - In 2016, ASA was able to organize 19 students and other members of the community for the first out-of-state event at Camp Taha in Michigan. The entire trip, in partnership with Dr. Meherdad, was subsidized by generous donors. ASA was provided the opportunity to experience various thrilling activities including tubing, zip lining, and kayaking. The students were also able to enjoy the extensive knowledge provided by Hassanain Rajab Ali. The event was a success and opened other opportunities for large projects. - In 2017, ASA held their first annual blood drive. The drive was a success, with more donors than expected. This drive, which helped to save the lives of up to 81 people, registered 25 first-time donors. In 2018, a second drive was held. This blood drive was also a success, and helped up to 90 people. More people showed up to donate than bed-space was available. With this in mind, ASA and the Red Cross made plans to increase the goal for the next drive. - In 2018, ASA held their first Muslim Unity Day. The goal of the event was to bring together the different mosques and Islamic centers around the Columbus area to build friendships and strengthen relationships between Muslim youth. The field-day was filled with games. Over 75 people from more than five Islamic organizations attended. The event was successful in emphasizing friendship, acceptance, and togetherness. - In 2019, ASA started the year volunteering at CAIR-Ohio's 2019 Annual Banquet, 9 Volunteers from ASA helped setup the event.
